Endless Summer
Golden Report July 10,11,12, 2009
July 10-11 & 12 was a very busy weekend in Golden. Many events and many many pilots with a non-flying related wedding to add to the mix
On Friday evening there was an official ceremony to name to road from the gravel pit to launch Bowle-Evans Road. A fitting tribute to the late Peter Bowle-Evans who did so much for pilots not only those that fly Golden but all Canadian pilots as president of HPAC. There is a plaque being made that is sponsored by HPAC and the BC Association
Instructors from Muller Windsports sent off 20 new paraglider pilots and 8 new hang glider pilots for their first high flights. John Janssen also had a hang gliding thermal course and the star student was Justin Brown who had a 4 hour + thermal flight. Keith MacCullough has a paragliding thermal course this coming weekend.
The wedding slowed things down for a few hours in prime time on Saturday but all went well.
Sunday afternoon a group of hang glider and paraglider pilots had good XC flights.
a good weekend for all and the season is just getting underway. The Willi should be a lot of fun this year with many new pilots starting to fly XC.
