Canadian Hang Gliding &
Paragliding
Cross Country Flights
Muller Hang Gliding has been
publishing a Canadian Hang Gliding Cross Country Log since 1984. Flights
have been collected from competition results and pilots who have sent in
their yearly XC flights at the end of each season. The lists have been
published in our Spring Newsletter. Paragliding XC flights have been
compiled and published since 1990. Where possible we have added information
on notable flights to these lists. These lists give the history of Cross
Country Flights in Canada.
Note:
I had started the list back in the early '80's when XC flights
were the rage and pilots would send me their flights from all
over Canada. Besides the flight log, I also listed flights over
100 & 200 miles-hg and 100kg - pg. Meet Directors would send me
the km's flown in their meets and I would add them to the list.
Back then the list was quite long.
You will notice that the list of flights have been getting
smaller each year. I no longer receive km's flown from meet
directors and pilots has stopped sending in flights. Eventually
it is hoped that pilots will submit flights to the OLC.
The reason that I started the XC log was to maintain a history
of XC flight in Canada. Unfortunately the past few years many
notable flights were not submitted so there is no point
continuing. It was fun for me to do the list each year but it
seems that pilots no longer want this information recorded so
there is no point continuing.
I will do a summary of 2005 for the next Air magazine. |
